Is it possible to set up the Temp folder so that it automatically empties on a regular basis?
The only safe way to delete temporary files is within Windows itself. When deleting files we personally never delete anything created or used more recently than yesterday's date. The safest way of all, which doesn't involve adding dangerous commands to configuration files, is to use Windows' own Disk Cleanup. (To get to it click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.) This tool will remove files that take up space, including (optionally) temporary files.
Microsoft takes a more cautious approach still, advising in the Description panel for the tool that you can safely delete temporary files that have not been modified in over a week.
